Employee Engagement Strategies

  • Engaged workforces result in 23% more profitability

  • Absenteeism decreased by 27.5% after a company intervened to improve their team members' engagement

  • 84% of employees believe that engagement is the top priority for businesses that want to be successful and motivated

  • 87% of employees feel that receiving necessary recognition plays a massive role in job satisfaction

  • 56% of leaders admitted that engaged workforces attain positive ROI

Yet, a survey revealed that 51% of employees are disengaged, while 13% are actively disengaged.

In today’s oversaturated world, engagement has become the key to success. Engagement takes an audience interaction from good to great, and an employee from productive to valuable. Any person or AI can be a cog in a machine, but engagement and motivation lead to new ideas and higher achievements! If you’re wondering how to inspire and encourage your employees to be engaged in the workplace, you’re in the right place. In this blog, we’ll discuss a few employee engagement strategies to get you started.

Employee Feedback

Encouraging and implementing employee feedback allows your personnel to feel like they have some say or control in the workplace. As an employee, if you have an issue with how something is happening but no way to express it or find a solution, this can lead to a lack of motivation or care in your work. However, if employees have an outlet where they can safely express these concerns and see them meaningfully considered, they will feel like they have impact and value in the workplace and will put more effort and engagement into their work. To implement this strategy, create a system where employees are encouraged to give feedback, and be sure to follow through in applying this feedback where applicable.

Workplace Culture

The second strategy is promoting a healthy workplace culture. The people and energy your employees are surrounded by will affect how they work. Feeling engaged with other personnel encourages employees to feel engaged with their work. On the other hand, a negative work environment often results in a lack of motivation or care in employees’ work. In a previous blog, we discussed building trust and encouraging psychological safety to promote a better workplace culture. Supporting employees and leading by example are great ways to do this, as well as other tips that can be found in that blog. Overall, ensuring employees are comfortable and involved in their workplace is a great strategy to encourage employee engagement.

Rewards and Recognition

The final strategy we will be discussing is rewards and recognition. While a healthy workplace culture creates a positive external environment for engagement, rewards and recognition create internal encouragement. Everyone loves to be rewarded for their hard work and feel appreciated, which, in turn, motivates them to continue producing high-quality work. In addition, some friendly competition can create motivation, as well as encourage employees to celebrate each others’ successes. This can further strengthen your workplace culture and relationships. When implementing this strategy, be sure to be fair and predictable about what you are rewarding.

These three strategies are great ways to encourage employee engagement! However, if you need more tips, check out our Employee Engagement Booster Program today or contact us at phil@rpmc.solutions for more information.
